Rizzo Corp. Begins Orange County Government Center

The Rizzo Corp is beginning work on renovating and adding to the former Orange County Government Center in Goshen, NY.

The center, designed by Paul Rudolph in the 1960s, was closed after damage from Hurricane Irene in 2011. The county has gone back and forth on plans for the building, and after numerous court filings and decisions, demolition on part of the structure was completed in 2015. The outline of the building remains, but workers gutted the interior.

Rizzo’s contract for alterations and additions is $34,264,000.

Cost figures for the entire project, including last year’s demolition, planning, renovating, adding and reopening run all the way to $77 million, according to The Chronicle, a Straus News publication that circulates in Orange County, NY.
