Anthony Rizzo Jr. Wins Community Impact Award

Anthony Rizzo Jr. received the Arthritis Foundation’s national Community Impact Award for 2015 at its National Conference in New Orleans in November.

The Foundation wrote when announcing the award, “Rizzo mobilized volunteers and expanded the Arthritis Foundation’s presence in the New England Region, raising more than $620,000 for the Foundation while building awareness for juvenile arthritis and helping create new partnerships.”

Rizzo, President and CEO of Rizzo Corp. and the Rizzo Companies, said he started supporting the Arthritis Foundation because his youngest son Ryan suffered with Arthritis from age 3. The family and its friends have supported Walk for a Cure and the annual Rizzo Companies Golf Tournament for more than seven years.

He said the walk in April and the golf tournament in August each help remind people twice a year that people of all ages live with Arthritis and a cure is needed. “It isn’t an old person’s disease. It can hit anyone. What we want is to cure the disease,” Rizzo said.

The award is another opportunity to remind people we need a cure for Arthritis, Rizzo said.
The Foundation wrote, “Anthony Rizzo, Jr. received the Community Impact Award for his commitment to furthering Arthritis Foundation’s mission in his community.”

The 2016 Walk to Cure Arthritis is scheduled for April 24 at the Immaculate High School track. For information, click here.

The 7th Annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for August 1, 2016. For information, click here.
